I’ve been active as a digital artist for over a decade. As a child, I had an intense interest in space and aircraft and my hobby was building model kits (as well as creating custom models of aircraft), later progressing to boats and cars, all utilizing radio control. In 1983, I learned how to use an airbrush and began to use it to create surrealistic scenes involving sacred sites and cosmic themes. In 1985, I taught myself the art of special effects photography, and built sets for my photographic images, which I still use today. In 1988, I became a part of the multi-image industry creating special effects for computer controlled multiple projector shows, and designed and built my own machinery. I also worked for a short time in the animation industry as a camera operator. Several years ago, I entered into a collaborative effort with several photographers and created over 500 rights protected digital images (all using photographic elements) for stock photography catalogs. In addition, I taught 3d modeling, lighting and animation at the Vancouver Training Institute, where I wrote a software manual on 3d studio max. Recently, I completed three years of study at the victoria college of art.
For the past five years, I’ve written numerous articles for computer and photographic magazines, and have provided my own custom illustrations and photographs. Topics covered include: software reviews, tutorials, tips and tricks, feature and profiles. Two years ago, I was the main contributing Writer to Streaming Media World, where I wrote over 100 articles over the course of a year. In addition to illustration, I work as the associate editor for WebReference.com, a site that gets between 150-175,000 page views per day.
